Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the normal 52-card standard deck and a single joker. The player is dealt 7 cards faces showing and the croupier receives 7 cards faces hidden.
One 5 card hand and one 2 card hand must be put together from the seven cards dealt, the 5 card hand has to be higher than the 2 card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand totals to be larger than the houses.
