Poker has become world acclaimed recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several types on the first poker game have been created, including a few games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely resembling 21 than old guard poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house instead of the other players. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little bluffing or other kinds of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up just before the croupier announcing "No more wagers." At that instance, both you and the bank and of course every one of the other gamblers are given five cards. Once you have observed your hand and the dealer’s 1st card, you have to either make a call wager or surrender. The call bet’s amount is akin to your beginning ante, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Abandoning means that your ante goes directly to the casino. After the bet is the face off. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is given back, plus an amount equal to the initial bet. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the bank’s hand. The casino pony’s up chips even with your initial bet and controlled expectations on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
