Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
