Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
