Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
