Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
