Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve closing game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players around the world. While betting on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
