Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 in which he loved taking part in different card games at a young age. He found himself becoming very competitive in these card games as he was playing his dad. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would regularly play against one another. He was able to access a number of the greatest players in chess. With their assistance, Howard would tweak his logical thinking techniques. He used these strategic ideas in the game of No-Limit hold’em.
Howard also helped his sibling Annie Duke master poker. Annie was a great student of the game as she would consistently be asking questions about how to make the correct choice. He told Annie Duke to head out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie Duke is one of the greatest female players the poker arena today. He relocated to Sin City in 1993 and participated in money games for the following decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, he made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
