Internet poker has become world acclaimed lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, stretches back quite a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to twenty-one than traditional poker, in that the gamblers wager against the dealer instead of each other. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little bluffing or other kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the dealer declares "No further wagers." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course every one of the other players are given five cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the dealer’s first card, you have to either make a call wager or surrender. The call wager’s amount is akin to your original ante, which means that the risks will have doubled. Abandoning means that your ante goes instantaneously to the dealer. After the wager comes the showdown. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your bet is given back, with an amount in accordance with the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The casino pony’s up money equal to your initial bet and fixed expectations on your call bet. These odds are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for two pairs
- 3-1 for three of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
